Funky Beads by Sarah Jane

Unique, individual, beautiful, hand-crafted jewellery for every occasion

Profile

Sarah-Jane studied Business, Finance & Fashion Management at the London College of Fashion, Graduating in 1994. Following graduation, Sarah-Jane worked as a freelance jewellery designer, creating pieces for clients such as Ted Baker and several independant outlets throughout London and the Home Counties.

Funky Beads by Sarah Jane was created in 2006, following a ten year break (if you can call it that) spent raising a young family, and have been featured in local and national media.

As a busy working mother of four, Sarah-Jane appreciates the importance for women to find quirky statement pieces of jewellery, which can take them straight from work, to a social event in the evening, and stand up to the rigours of family life.

Of her designs, Sarah-Jane says;

I want people to enjoy wearing my jewellery, I enjoy mixing glass with wood, and resin with vintage beads. This gives the necklaces a unique quirky look.

My inspiration comes from nature. Flowers in bloom and stormy weather creates an alluring palette which you may not initially think of combining. Nature creates stunning effects with colour, I like to recreate these in my necklaces.

Sarah-Jane makes every attempt to ensure her jewellery is sourced ethically. For example, the silver tone clasps are made by Chinese nationals who received no education during the cultural revolution (1966-1976). The money raised from the sale of these clasps helps these people support their families.

Funky Beads by Sarah Jane make only a very limited number of each necklace, many are one off pieces. If you require a specific style, colour or design, you can commission Sarah-Jane to make that piece for you. Check the help page for more information.

Sarah-Jane often takes her work on the road, and has displayed her Jewellery at events and trade fairs including at Woburn Abbey alongside fashion designer Johann Bester, at The Clothes Show Live Black Label Zone, and Facshion.

A limited and regularly updated collection of one off pieces can also be found in store at Doyles in Market Harborough.
